A child’s earliest experiences are proven to play an essential role in their brain development, which is why our developmental pediatrics team has dedicated themselves in detecting and addressing possible lifelong problems in learning, behavior, physical, and mental health. Working closely with patients and their parents, our team aims to maintain a positive developmental trajectory to improve outcomes for children, families, and communities. This is done through the creation of positive early experiences founded on stable and caring relationships, safe and supportive environments, and appropriate nutrition. Providing the best opportunities for your children begins in their early stages of development. Spotting signs at an early age and seeking medical attention are proven to influence the way children transform into confident and well-rounded individuals.
Upon thorough observation and evaluation, our team may warrant and implement intervention such as: Habilitative Interventions (physical, occupational, and speech therapy), Behavior Management Strategies, Educational Intervention (targeted academic remediation and special educational curriculum), and Medical/Surgical Intervention.
Children that exhibit the following signs of delayed development are encouraged to visit a specialist:
- Delayed speech and/or difficulty understanding language
- Delayed motor skills (i.e. crawling, and walking)
- Difficulty in paying attention
- Poor social skills
- Oversensitivity or under sensitivity to pain, noise, temperature, light, etc.
- Sleeping related difficulties
- Eating difficulties (i.e. selective with food, and/or unwilling to try new food)
- Problems and challenges at school (i.e. learning to read, write, and do math)
